Liverpool fans watched their side suffer a shock defeat on Saturday, but were much happier to see a different team lose on another continent.
The Reds have been without Sadio Mane since the start of January due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, and suffered another disappointing result without the ace as Wolves knocked Jurgen Klopp’s side out of the FA Cup.
Before heading to Gabon, Mane had been in excellent form for his club, and fans expressed their delight on Twitter as Liverpool’s official account announced his AFCON exit following the penalty defeat to Cameroon.

Liverpool offered their commiserations, but supporters did not believe they were genuine, and celebrated Senegal’s departure from the tournament.
@LFC commiserations, yes. But need to get him back to Merseyside. Where’s that jet Firmino and Coutinho were being whisked out of Brazil on?

Despite missing the past three weeks of club action, Mane is still Liverpool’s top scorer in the Premier League with nine goals in 19 appearances.
